What another poll?!!!

I'm interested to know what brakes S4 owners have upgraded to and why.

This survey refers to front brakes only and the limitations of the poll mean that the headings are somewhat generic.

Please add a post stating why you have chosen a particular setup, or why you may have stayed with the stock brakes.

Thanks for your input :)

The first owner of my S4 was apparently some sort of a brake-fanatic, he had had the Porsche 993 turbo setup fitted by MTM at a mere cost of 6500 DM to an othwerwise bog standard car. Well, at least it stops allright, now I only should sort the acceleration part... ;)

I'm still stock at the moment, but when it's time for an upgrade, I think I'll be looking to get a Stoptech BBK. It's similar to the 993 setup but with more disc options (drilled, slotted, both, zinc coated etc...). They're not stupid money either.

I've got RS4 brakes all round on mine. They were on the car when I bought it. Frankly I think they are pants! I've not driven an S4 with stock brakes, but I understand they are not too clever either. Considering the size of the discs, they should be awesome, but they fade quite quickly and they are noisy. Perhaps I'm expecting too much, but my 330 sport has no such problems on the standard stoppers.

I have stock at the moment , but if when I need to upgrade I'll be going with some Hispec brakes.... Ive used them before and they do some cracking stuff and half decent prices....

Porche 993TT and the old Movits are the same thing.

I have MOVIT 322mm fronts, fitted by a previous owner so I never experienced the OEM brakes. Just had new genuine porche pads (with the stick on anti squeal spring backs) and the disks re-surfaced (as new ones were to be £300 each). Some cracking between the holes but not serious. The disks ware unevenly due to the holes and don't have that perfectly flat disk to pad contact area, it appears more groved and ridged, not sure if it affects the "feel" of the pedal, but I would prefer groved disks I have used in the past I think.

They seem fine, not as immediate in their action as I would like, but OK. Disks and pads seem expensive, not sure how they compare with other makes / RS brakes.

Just fitted Stage IV ECS Tuning kit (Brembo 6-pots & 352mm slotted discs) in time for Donnington. They are a BIG improvement over stock and one of the cheaper kits too! No noise, sqeals or rattles either, which is a big plus. I also took the opportunity to fit the Toureg air ducts (as discussed on a recent RS4 thread).

RS4 fronts, yet to do the rears. Better than stock, not good enough though. Do the job for road use but wouldn't work for regular track outings.
