Pre/post facelift differences

Newbie looking for advice, I'm looking at an early 99 S4 avant, I've been told that a facelift occured during this year, can anyone advise when this occured, what the differences are and if its worth holding out for the later car ?

Does a T Reg or later mean the facelift model...?? Early 99's being S reg

I'd just like to add that the changes to the turbos mentioned in that thread were not done at the same time as the facelift. There seem to have been various tweaks made to the turbo system, judging by posts on Audiworld at the time. I think the most recent revision came in about mid 2000. I'd suggest getting as late a model as possible in the hope of avoiding turbo failure. Getting a facelift model does not guarantee reliable turbos, I can tell you.
