GT4 does the business. You can even do it in an S4, B5 or B6, RS4, RS6, M3, M3CSL, M3GTR and M5. But sod all them do it in Tom's supra and really have fun or hammer the lot and do it in a Hyundai rally car....

Went to the neurburgring last year in my mates R34 GTR,awesome place and i can tell you that GT4 is spot on.I didnt own my 99 S4 when my mate and i went to the Belgium GP last year and decided to take his R34 to the ring for some abuse but i was gutted that i hadnt taken my 97 Astravan aswell because i would have driven anything round that track, what a place.Might be doin 'Spa' again with same mate who now owns a Tuscan S so a trip to the ring will be on the cards. 99 S4 verses 02 Tuscan S at the ring sounds fun.
am off there on friday
not aiming to set the track alight, will be first 'track day' in the S4, and first time at the 'ring, so aim is to have fun and bring car back in one piece, still working.
car should be lots of fun though...now its got decent software (revo), decent brakes (porsche/ecs things), suspension (H&R Coilovers).

I have spent a couple of weekends there with the 911, but wouldn't take the S4 round...with standard suspension on mine I wouldn't feel comfortable putting the hammer down.
I don't have much time to get involved in computer games, but one thing that is interesting with the ring is the changes in elevation, I would be very suprised if a computer game would be able to give a true representation.

I'll be commenting after the weekend.Tartan_Rob wrote:The PS2 game is mapped out to within 1foot of the whole track. If you've been round the track for real then it might be interesting to see how they compare..?
I'm expecting having done lots of laps on GT4, that I'll hopefully know which way the corners are going to go...but not much more than that.
(have also watched countless videos of various cars going round the ring.)
going to get a couple of passenger laps with friends who have been before, before I take the audi out on track...
thanks

So. Where's your comments ?

Was at the Nordschliefe (or however its spelled) one weekend in late June, and have never had so much fun in a car ! Wasn't as 'scary' as I thought it would be. I didn't bother doing passenger laps before going out. Just took it easy for a couple of laps and then gradually wound up the pace. Was there with 3 mates (911Carerra4, M3, Alfa 147GTA), and the s4 held its own okay. Awesome day out, even for someone like me who would hardly even know what a Playstation looks like ! Have since put KW coilovers on, and now trying to plan the next trip up there...
Every s4 owner should do it at least once in a lifetime.
apologies, been really busy since I got back.kwottro wrote: So. Where's your comments ?![]()
It was fantastic. Definetely going back, hopefully make two trips next year.
Before going I had H&R coilovers, and 993T brakes fitted to the S4, with the intention of ensuring it was compeltely ring ready. Unfortunately the brake fluid fitted boiled, resulting in a real heart in mouth moment, as I frantically tried to loose some speed. Result was I was really lucky - grazed the nearside wing on the armco, but nothing more.
Had ringracing fit Castrol SRF, which cured the fluid boiling issue, and have sent letter off to enquire as to exactly what fluid was fitted with the porsche brake conversion.
Apart from that minor glitch, I had so so much fun.

The audi felt really nice around the ring, but its weight was very noticeable...need to try and save up for an Elise or similar.
Compared to Gran Turismo..the track is very recognisable, but on the game you have no idea of the amount of changes in height etc.
