Zish,

I went from and S3 to an S4 & set Recaros at the top of my list as I loved them so much from the S3. They are in fact identical seats that were fitted to my car in the factory. I think the 2001 model with the new badges came with them as standard.

I would hold out for the right spec if I were you as you will regret not getting what you want, especially after being used to the Recaros in the S3..they are pretty rare though.

Yes the S4 Recaros are almost identical to those on the S3. The only difference is that the S3 seats have the 'fold-forward' facility which of course is not required for the 4-door S4.

I got my Recaro front seats from Recaro UK. I never asked about the rear seat because I wasn't bothered. The advantages of the Recaro fronts over the OEM S4 sports seats is obvious, whereas the differences for the rear are superficial.

Brand new front seats from Recaro will cost about £2500.

Yes. My biggest regret about my S4 is that (well, it's really that it's not an RS4) it doesn't have Recaros. I think the
standard 'sports' seats are absolutely crap. This is coming from a Golf GTI which came with Recaro seats as
standard. You really miss the lateral support (particularly as the S4 handles a lot better than the GTI).

If you are lucky you may be able to get some and retrofit from ebay.de (they are still not cheap though). As Dippy says,
you will need to sell a kidney to get new ones from Recaro.

Better off just finding a car that has them in the first place....
