Game On.....1/4 mile madness

Post by KayGee » Thu Jun 02, 2005 7:36 pm

Ermmm think I might be in trouble...big mouth and all.

Chap at work just got his Mitsi Evo VI back, 370 Bhp and 400 ft/Lbs of torque. Evo 340 engine running full MOTEC conversion. Quite impressive, couldn't live with it as a daily driver but its blindingly fast. Awesome seats.

Anyway seems we are going to Santa Pod for some extensive head to head testing.....to top it all another mate wants to join the party in his 5.0 TVR Chimera. Now where did I put MRC's phone number?

390 Bhp S4 vs 370 Bhp Evo vs 345 Bhp TVR.

Will post back once we have dates confirmed. Anyone else fancy coming along either for a laugh or a test run will off course be welcome.

Should be fun, wonder if Keith has anymore RS4 gearboxes?????

So predictions on the outcome are the nature of the day...heavy S4, lighter Evo or featherweight TVR?

KayGee. Got every faith in you mate
My brother had a 5ltr Chimeara. Was quick. I think that will be the danger. Providing its not wet.

My money is in the S4!!!!!

Eathis, I beat the TVR at stage II, off the line pulled 2 car lengths and held it upto 120....the Evo worries me lots more.

P.S Did I mention the Evo driver is an ex race driver, used to compete with Plato and the like?????

Unfortunately my money would have to be on the Evo.

As you noted, it's not a daily driver, whereas the S4 and even the Chimera are designed to be.

Don't joke about the gearbox...

Speaking from experience mate - if you don't bog down on the start you should pip him :-)

The driver thing makes it interesting. If he blows you away maybe you can swap cars on the second burn just to see how much difference the driver variable makes.

My money is still good for Kaygee

OK. Plan C. Collect clippings from a few hole punches round the office. Feed them into his air vents just before the race starts. Consequences:
++ Will equalise the driver advantage.
-- You won't have any friends left.

The Trevor ought to murder you both. A lot will depend on driver skill. Don't smoke your clutch! :D

Really interesting thread!

My old S4 was running about 340 bhp with 380lbs torque. Now I never took it to Santa Pod, but a friend of mine with a Fiat Coupe (330 bhp 310lbs torque) has and he has posted a 13.0sec time. My S4 was a tad slower in gear, but had more traction from a a standing start, so I would say my S4 would have been good for about 13-13.2 sec quarter mile.

My current TVR Cerbera 4.5 has done a 12.3 sec 1/4 and has 400bhp, the problem with the Cerbera is getting a good start, which believe me is really difficult (lightweight RWD). Therefore I think the Chimaera with it's dubious 345bhp (more like 300bhp unless modified) will be lucky to break 13.0 secs.

An S4 with 390bhp and ???lbs torque should be able to pull a 12.5-7 sec 1/4 time, but an aggressive launch is needed.

I have seen numerous Evo's run the strip and would expect this particular one to pull low 12's.

Therefore my money is on the EVO. (But I'd like to see the S4 win)

Hi Jules. Good to see you on the forum and glad to see you got the TVR you were after.
I think my money would also be on the Evo, but think the S4 may be in with a chance - it all depends on the start...
