£2/3k to spend on the car....

Post by tartan_rob » Wed Mar 09, 2005 9:13 am

I've been toying with changing to an RS4 or an RS6 or perhaps even a Lotus V8 or something. But think it better than I spend some dosh on my car and I'll get another year out of her - not to mention the cost saving...

If I had £2/3k to spend on mods, what should I go for on my Std S4?

I'd like to keep the exhaust note quiet and the car subtle and will not be doing the work myself, will probably get Dialynx to do it, they are only 5 miles from me.

I asked the same question a long time ago and the thread makes interesting reading if you want a look:

There are some good posts by old favourites in there as well !

Guys - having seen AMD site - I am now tempted to go for the Stage2 RS4 kit. Is it worth the money or am I better to spend more and get a newer/different car such as RS4/RS6 or somehting wild (Lotus V8 Turbo)....?

Hi Rob,

Try to speak to Joshie, Prawn and Jeffw, they've all gone this route, I dare say if you speak to all of them you'll get a good idea of the pros and cons.

....If it were me, I don't think I'd go for such severe tuning, personally I think that hiking the power up that much will only result in other parts getting overstressed. If I wanted 400 ish hp, I'd get an RS4

Hi Rob,

I did the full K04 conversion on my S4 and it was a fantastic car, the low down torque was awesome, however.....
now that I have run the RS4 I would say without doubt it is a better car all round.
If you want any more specific info on the conversion let me know.

I do also know of an excellent RS4 up for sale at the moment with all the work you could ever want already done :bigwave:

I'd buy an RS4...if I could afford a clean nice one and they did a Saloon. Upgrade to an RS4 is slightly more than 6K

I agree with KayGee! If you have the money to upgrade to the RS4, I would do it. You don't have to jazz it up with all the options. Just buy a mostly stock RS4 with a small amount of options. It shouldn't hurt you too bad.
