Guys - I have started to notice that when I switch off the car there is a wdining down sound, similiar to a turbo spool up but in reverse (kind of..!). I''ve had a look under the bonnet when engine cold, and noticed that its the viscous fan. My question is, how easy are they to change and has anyone got any tips etc...?
I was tempted to remove it full stop until summer as the electric fans would take over when required for the time being...

RE: Viscous Fan Coupling
Fan itself is very easy to change, its just getting to it thats the problem.
You have to remove the bumber and then the rad etc, or move it to the service position (ie out the way)
I run without the viscous fan on the RS following the FMIC install, absolutly no overheating problems.
There is a second small fan that comes on when the A/C is active.
I have a large electric fan in place of the viscous one and never need to switch it on.

Made a mistake guys, its not the viscous fan but the two electric fans. Will submit another post.
