Slow Wipers

Post by robscim » Sun Nov 28, 2004 5:53 pm

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced slow wipers? When first used, they are very slow, juddering as they cross the screen. They speed up after a bit of use but they're not right and I just know they'll pack-up at midnight on the motorway in the snow!!!

I had the garage try to lubricate any linkages when it was serviced but they did say it was a no-maintenance item and probably wouldn't work.

I guess its either the linkages themselves or maybe the motor. Any ideas? If so, how easy a job is it to do, or is it best left to the specialist?

As always, thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

Rob

you need a new wiper linkage, the spindles are starting to seize in their housings.

I just drove to the shop about half an hour ago. Noticed EXACTLY the same problem. Came back, logged in and found this posting right at the top. Hey, this ain't a bad site!

Thanks for the diagnosis VST...I shall advise Listers when I book in for my service later this week to replace under warranty.

Thanks for the advice.

I had the car in the garage and it was the linkage which had seized. I had both the linkage and motor changed just to be safe as the car with no wipers is a paperweight!!!

Alls well now then! :D

Cheers
