S4 B5 Brakes Binding.

Post by GWORX » Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:17 pm

Hello to all forum members and non-members, I am new to forums and was advised this would be the forum for me. Having owned several Quattro's and an RS2 over the years, i have just picked up my first S4 B5.
It is a 2001 model that has been sat-up for approx 1 year. The owner also has several Audi's and lost interest in the car. After fitting new discs and pads found that all the brakes were binding. I have had the car moved to my local garage and or though my mechanic has come across something similar, the fact that they bled-up ok and it's all four corners with the problem makes him think it might have something to do with either the master/slave cylinders. If this is something that anyone could help with, i would be very grateful if you could cast some light. I will up-load some photo's as soon as the car has been valeted, and keep your eyes open for the future up-grades. Many thanks G.

Hi,
have a look in the brake servo. The plenium chamber (the bit where the battery sits). This is a common problem for Audi platform cars. The problem starts with debris blocking the drain tubes. This causes rain water not to soak away in turn enter's the servo jamming on the brakes. regards D

Thanks for a swift reply, turns out that all four calipers had seized. Found a very good company on E-bay that offers re-manufactured calipers on an exchange. Finally enjoying my S4, now for some upgrades!
