Broken Key...

Post by PcPiers » Sun Mar 07, 2010 7:44 am

I have cleverly broken both of the spring action mechanisms in my keys, I know it's not a major thing as both the keys still work but I would like to replace at least one of them.
Does anyone have an idea as to cost and does it involve going to a stealer? The part of the keys with the lock/unlock buttons still work fine.

Any help is appreciated!

The keys are easy to strip down, just do one at a time as you may need a good one to re-learn the other and code it to the car.

There is a single screw under the audi symbol, peel it off. Pull the 2 halves of the key appart, top and bottom.

The spring is inside, try fixing it first, you can get another key from ebay and swap the parts over if needs be, the cheapest option by far.

The immo chip is in the top part of the key if you need to use an ebay key dig out the immo chip without damaging it !!
and glue it into the other key , then follow the proceedure to re-code to the central locking.
