Car Alarm Problem

Post by raza_1 » Mon Dec 01, 2003 12:46 am

Hi,

My Audi S4 car alarm has started playing up today. I lock the car via the key remote and the alarm activates successfully. If I wait for 2-4 minutes the car alarm starts beeping and I have to de-activate the alarm and activate it again. Has anyone encountered this problem before. Also I was checking through the car manual and it states that there could be problems with the internal sensor and that there is a button to turn this off somewhere near the driver side. I will give this a try tommorow. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Raz

The switch for the internal alarm is on the driver side on the dooor pillar on the inside. (just look around the back rest on the side)

i had exactly the same thing happen to my s4, the alarm kept going off all the time for no reason, but it was really quiet.. i booked it in at the local audi garage for them to plug it into their diagnostic thing and there was a fault with the alarm horn, and they are replacing it under warranty on the 3rd of dec funnily enough!! it was an alarm to alarm me that the alarm was effed!! I have the car booked in with Audi for this saturday who will do a computer diagnostic check. Also the strange thing is that the problem seems to have resolved itself. I left the car in the garage last night with the alarm de-activated and then today around 18:00 I activated the alarm to test it and it has been fine since. I did check all my doors and windows, and I am wondering maybe I left one of the car windows open slightly and that may have been triggering the alarm until I checked everything today and activated the alarm with no probs so far. Oh well I will see how it goes with Audi this saturday.

Thanks Raz

Just ignore it - the damn thing is too quiet for anyone to notice it anyway!

Yeah - I knew that was today - I thought I'd be the only one here!

I would like to have gone but really the timing of the event was not good for me...

Same for me mate. Couldn't afford 1.5 days off (time wise or money wise), same reason I had to miss Hockenheim

I bet they're having a good crack though. I counted around 50 names on the list. Lucky gits

Anyway, maybe see you next Wednesday at windsor?

Cheers,

I have had the car checked out by Audi and they did a quick diagnostic check and have determined the problem is with the car alarm horn and the battery is not recharging or something like that. The car is covered by Warranty holdings who are crooks. They said they would cover the part and pay £27.50 labour charge per hour where Audi are charging £85 labour per hour and also the feckers are not going to pay for any extensive diagnostic checks if they are carried out.

£60 for the part and £85 for 1 hour work for a alarm horn
