URGENT-PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Post by daddyjohal » Sun Nov 30, 2003 2:42 pm

i own a 2000 S4 and i've got a major problem with the alarm sysytem. for some reason it won't acknowledge either one of my key fobs and so i can't arm the alarm. the car starts ok but when i switch the engine off, the cd player carries on playing when it would normally turn off. any ideas???

Check about resynchronisation in your manual. I can't remember the details but it should be in there.

Problem solved.

It was an electrical switch in the ignition barrel - 1 hour job - £140. the guys at Leicester Audi wanted me to book the car in and pay to have a 'diagnostic session' to evaluate the problem, but after i politely refused to be ripped off, a technician came to the car, took a twenty second look at it and told me what the problem was. he then gave me the damage - £140.

i've owned Impreza Turbos, a Honda Prelude, an SLK Merc, a BMW 535i (V8) and an E36 321BHP M3 Evo. i can honestly say that Audi dealers are an absolute rip off. They charge for absolutely everything and anything, and they charge an absolute fortune.

I love my S4, but if i can't find a decent dealer who doesn't try to rip me off at every opportunity, i can see myself jumping back into an M3.

I hear you on the whole dealer pricing - that's why I went out and bought VAGCOM and some Erwin manuals where possible either do the work myself or give it to a specialist. Who generally know more and give more in return than my local dealer.

yes and no. the ten grands worth of kit would be great fun to drive. but then it would stop my wife going on that shopping spree i've been promising her for the last year, so she'd probably cut my knob off as i slept - is that a problem? HELL YEAH.
