Afternoon,
Has anyone retro fitted xenon headlamps to their S4? Can I ask is it straight forward and what sort of costs are involved.
I'm suspecting easy to fit but financially not worth it but am hoping to be pleasantly suprised!
Still looking for my S4 Avant...
Cheers

Afternoon,

Mega bucks! IIRC they are about £400 each side and think there may also be a seperate unit required to fire them up. Much cheaper and easier to use the blue tint bulbs (think they are about £15 for two). Sure someone must have done it though? How much more were they on the option list from the factory?
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.

Yes,
pre facelift (99.5 MY) cars did have different headlights (the indicator and the headlight were separate units)
On the post faelift cars the two were merged into one unit to give cleaner lines.
However both cars had HID headlights, I've never seen an S4 with Halogens.
...that said I did see an S4 with cloth seats at an auction (yuk!) maybe on the continent HIDs were an option?
Or perhaps the car in question had a front end impact and the owner didn't want the added expense (about a £grand I think) of replacing the Xenons

The Canadian spec S4s have halogens. In any event, to retrofit OEM S4 HIDs will cost you:
If you want to do it completely right:
~$500 USD: 1 pair of Valeo HID headlamp housings
~$700 USD: 1 pair of OEM ballasts/igniters
~$300 USD: 1 pair of Osram Xenarc 4,300 D2S HID Bulbs
~$100 USD: 1 pair of self leveling motors and miscellaneous parts
That's: ~$1,600USD
Or you can just purchase a retrofit H7 HID Kit for ~$450US and have HID.

Vagarts are doing 6500k HID kits for 250-300+vat odd quid I think.
