How much you pay?

Post by maximus4 » Tue Jul 14, 2009 2:35 pm

Hello,
I have owned a S4 since the age of 24, now being 26 I want more power. I am currently with Admiral Insurance and paying £400 fully comp.

So my question is how much do you think it will cost for a 26 year old with 5 years NCB and 3 points to insure a 450bhp S4?.. obviously not with Admiral..

I know i need to get some quotes so please let me know who you have tried and who you are using at the mo so i can give them a bell.

Cheers,

Mark

Really depends on where you live, where you store the car, etc.

I was paying £1200 for my standard S4 through Elephant (underwritten by Admiral) when I was 27 with 2 years NCD.

Elephant wanted to increase the premium by £600 when I got a quote to fit RS6 brakes.

Anyway, moved to Noel Dazely who quoted me £1600 with everything modded and an SP30.

I'm now 29 with 4 years NCD and my premium was £1050. I do live in Liverpool though, so car insurance is ridiculous here anyway.

Specialist brokers are the way to go.

If you're a member of AudiSRS, their new Site sponsors Sky Insurance who specialise in modded performance cars will offer you a discount.

Funny, Admiral refused to insure my remapped S4, but would have insured it if it was chipped. Go figure. Pity, their multicar policy would have been useful.

Phone Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels (0845 013 8231), tell him you have an S4 and list the mods (ie, K4s, intercoolers, remap, diverter valves etc) and he'll give you a very very good quote :D

Noel Dazley would cover remaps for free when I asked them (well, they had a ~£30 admin charge to update the paperwork). Same applied to better brakes, suspension etc. I didn't get a quote for K04's etc but I suspect they would be reasonable for these mods too.
