k03 wastegate pressure
k03 wastegate pressure
hi, i was just wondering if anyone know's what the k03 wastegate opening pressure is? i've had a custon remap, changed the dv's air mass meter and had an e boost2, boost controller fitted in the glovebox you can set up to 6 set points/tuning levels, i have 3 settings of varying power, you can adjust boost level, wastegate pressure, and sensitivity of boost but need to know the exact pressure of the wastegate as standard and what i can increase the settings to in order to create as much torque as possible without causing damage to my turbo's?i was going to remove the pre-cats next week to help get a bit more from the turbo's so any help would be greatfully received. thanks

RE: k03 wastegate pressure
I think the wastegate spring allows for roughly 5psi boost.
RE: k03 wastegate pressure
cheers blue, i have set it to 8.5 psi at the moment and it has made a difference to the torque levels but i have read about people changing the springs upto 12psi??? i know the boost would spike but i can turn that down to compensate. its a right old minefield this search for power aint it..lol
RE: k03 wastegate pressure
go on, try to change your wastegate springs

RE: k03 wastegate pressure
i dont need to change them i can adjust it at the touch of a button but what i was saying is i've read about people changing them for a higher rated spring hence producing a higher torque value, i aint changing nothing i'm a dumb ass bricklayer but i was wanting to know what they are set to when they're standard?
RE: k03 wastegate pressure
s4marsh, I personally am not aware of anyone changing S4 K03 wastegate springs... adjusting your boost at the touch of a button isn't the same as installing higher rated springs, as the base spring pressure will still be the same.

RE: k03 wastegate pressure
i can adjust the boost value and the wastegate pressure with this controller and the sensitivity and a whole load of other stuff including boost correction so as i raise the wastegate value i have to reduce the boost value slightly to stop it spiking over my required setting of exactly 17.4 psi of boost i know i cant have a wastegate setting lower than what the spring is set too but the controller sends pressure to it in order to keep it shut for longer if required, this is where the torque increases are made according to turbosmart. i'm guessing you havnt used these units?? or have you heard any good/bad new about them? any help very gratefully recieved,, ian

RE: k03 wastegate pressure
17.4 psi sounds like a hell of a lot of boost for K03's. I'm only running 19psi peak on K04's!
Have you looked at the K03 compressor maps to check their efficient range?

RE: k03 wastegate pressure
17.4 psi is exactly 1.2 bar which is well within the k03's comfort zone i could be utterly wrong but the maps i have here says its ok, it tapers off higher up the rev range to about 14 psi in 4th gear onwards i'm still trying to finalise my settings as i can adjust so many, i can even have different boost in different gears
