Steadyyyyyyyyyyyy Dave, you've taken me wildly out of context

I'm well aware that peak torque and bhp are never at the same rpm on our V6 Biturbo - also I never argued that a Sportec RS460 would have more torque than a tuned S4...... I just commented that an S4 basic tuned on K03's is indicated at having nearly as much as the Sportec RS4, which doesn't compare with other similar S4 plots from AmD - which seem to be around the 370ftlbs mark.

All I said, and please answer this one specifically, why is it that the same mods on an S4 at AmD can show dramatically different peak torque? Remember its the 325bhp conversion we're talking about not the K04 conversion.

Also this is why I based the question on peak torque not bhp - because the other thread (as me and you correctly show) indicates torque is the important factor.

See what I'm saying?

Sorry, I thought that you had misunderstood.

I believe that the answer is very simply the difference in each engine's performance, probably partly due to 'loosening up'. My stage 1 mod did indeed produce about 380lbft IIRC, my higher torque is due to the full miltek and remap (stage 2?). However I have seen results similar to mine from older cars with only stage 1. I understand that it is typical for Audi engines to only really start to loosen up at around 40,000 miles. So my engine is probably still a bit tight, and so were the RS4 engines on which the Sportec figures were based.

Does this make sense?
2001 Silver S4 Avant
AmD remap, APR R1 DVs, APR bipipe, Full Miltek exhaust
H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas
Defi-HUD boost gauge / turbo-timer (with afterrun pump modification), Phatbox

See what you mean Dave re the mileage - could well be the reason. Not seen any other Sportec RS4's to compare the published maps to, although mine had 40k miles and still came out with 466bhp.
