transmission 'play'

Post by fletchie55 » Tue Nov 04, 2008 12:02 pm

My car seems to make a bit of a thump sometimes when I change gear, I already have a DTS and a snub mount, the car is 8 yrs old and has done about 111,000 miles.

Just wondered if the engine/transmission mounts are prone to breaking or severe deterioration on the S4?

Also, are RS4 engine/transmission mounts any different to the S4 standard ones, and are they likely to improve things?

cheers

Could be the rear diff mount.

You should get yourself onto the 034 motorsport site and have a look at the stuff they sell. I've got their engine and gearbox street density mounts, front snub mount with cage. Both the front and rear rear diff mounts. Along with an AWE DTS. Wear and tear on these parts can contribute to the knocking you are hearing and feeling. HTH

Ross.
