Hoses to connect S4 ICs to RS4 charge pipes?

Post by CliveH » Sun Oct 05, 2008 3:51 pm

This is a bit of a longshot, but I'll post up before I go spending lots of money on alternative solutions or reinventing the wheel. Surely someone somewhere sometime must have connected stock S4 (or AWE) intercoolers to RS4 charge pipes...?

The stock (or Samco) hoses do not fit because the RS4 charge pipes are a bigger diameter to the S4 pipes (or APR bi-pipe) and also sit a bit higher.

The RS4 hoses do not work because the RS4 IC outlet pipes sit at a different angle to the S4 stock/AWE ICs.

Anyone done this or have any bright ideas...? :?

Hi Clive. Long time no speak.

I'm going to get ready for some incoming as I'm sure this would have been your first thought...reducing or increasing diameter pipework? Rubber hoses onto some type of solid pipework?

How's things Rob? :bigwave:

The outlet from the ICs is 52mm and the inlet to the chargepipes is 65mm, and the shape of the hose then needs to be dogleg, just like the original S4 hoses.

No Darren, as the AWE IC's exit pipes are the same size and orientation as the S4 stock ones, so fit straight onto the stock S4 hoses or Samco equivalents.

I don't think they have it online. its a smaller dia alu piece you need to get welded on the rs4 uppipes to use the stock hose but I just used stock hose with some force. Been good this summer.
