Re: drive train stabilizer
Gaerbox anti-wobble device. Some of us notice a bit of thudding when we shift gears. This is a common trait and is a 'feature' of the drive train not being adequately supported. There are two options to fix it - a snub mount for the engine (cheap) or a full on stabiliser support for the tranny (expensive). Check out the links in the other thread and you will see the comparisons and videos of the two in action using a teeny cam just behind the tranny whilst the driver does some acceleration runs
Re: drive train stabilizer
I do not really notice the thudding, so it is possible that Audi made improvements for the later S4s.
I decided not to install the snub mount. This is mainly because of the risk of increased vibration, coupled with the fact that AmD told me they had not installed one before, and I didn't want to be the 'guinea-pig'.
