Lovely S4 for sale - thinking of buying
Thankyou so much for the kind offer Liam. Even if I go up myself I might ask you to pop along if you've got more knowledge than me regarding these cars! I'm sure there will be a few beers in it for you if you're interested.....liamwozza wrote:find out where in lincs it is thats where i am so if not to far i could take a look if you like
Anyway, with the help of an hawk eyed forum member (thankyou) I now have the full correct VIN number and have had a very reassuring conversation with Audi customer services regarding the car. The mileage appears to be genuine, and the car has an almost full Audi service history. The Audi dealer who has serviced it is also based in the same area as the guy's work address.
Thanks for all the help. Will let you know how I get on!
Question now is, is the car worth £9500.........it's totally standard.
Ideally I want to buy a heavily modified one from someone on here, but after nearly 2 years on here and still no S4 on the drive, I'm wondering whether I should just go for this one and end up paying a fortune by the time I've finished with all the modifications.
EDIT - No sunroof either grrrr

Hi, did you say the car is based in Scotland? Saw one for sale in Edinburgh as well as Falkirk recently. Not sure...
On a different note, I bought a low mileage one at the beginning og the year (47000) facelift. Still fixing a few things here n there and the car is still bog standard. I suppose it gives us the choice of modifications....

No sunroof - no BOSE - no Recaros
Has sat nav (which I dont want really)
Not a greatly specced one tbh
The thing is, buying it now for £9500 could be the absolute worst possible time to buy. The market has tanked totally so much so that you can pick up an average S4 for around £5000 - £6000.
If I buy this one for almost £10,000 then I'll have paid £4000 - £5000 over the odds just for a low mileage unmodified car, which I'm going to modify anyway.
I think the only way it would be worth it, and the car still hold its value would be if I was to keep the car unmodified, but theres not much chance of that now is there?

Sorry Carpy, but doesn't sound like the one for you.
I'd recommend buying a good well modified car if you intend to do so anyway. I bought a standard fairly low spec car and have spent a fortune on something which I could have picked up for a fraction of the price, albeit with a lot more miles.
Infact, I could have bought an RS4 with less miles than mine for the money i've spent!
But I love my S4... awwwww

Yeah I'm thiinking along the same lines. I should have bought the K04'ed Imola S4 from Matt on here, or Robs tuned S4.......both I was very close but didnt move quick enough.
I've seen the price of RS4 cars is now coming down. Fontains have a lovely 70,000 mile RS4 up for £15,000. The colour is wrong but perhaps this would be a better choice. I just can't stomach the whole estate vibe though, and theres something about the S4 that really appeals to me.

Actually Rob's old motor is 'the one that got away' when I was buying mine that I wish I had done.
Even with all the neccessary repairs which would have been required to that car over the last two years, and the fact it had an extra 80k miles on it, and if i'd bought recaros and some new wheels to bring it up to scratch, i'd still have over £10k extra in my back pocket... and 50-100bhp more under my right foot!
It must still be a strong runner even at that mileage, otherwise the current owner wouldn't have bothered just fitting water/meth injection.
