Did you resolve this?
Just come back from 1000 mile round trip to France, checked for codes and there were none.
Went for a blast as I took it pretty steady whilst away and the "short to ground intermittent" code came up on the same egt again.
Now wondering if either the egt is getting too hot when I really floor it or movement in the engine when changing gear at high revs is tweaking a wire somewhere causing a bad circuit.

Cheers for the swift reply!
Glad you resolved it, my problem would seem to be different as I replaced the MAF and the EGT sensor at the same time.
The old EGT gave the same fault code as the new one even after replacing the MAF and last time I logged it my MAF was giving higher than expected readings (232 std car) which I would have thought would richen the mixture and so protect the EGT's.
As I said the fault only seems to appear when I really boot it in second gear, clear it and drive like a "sensible" person and it will stay cleared.
