...Strangely braking appears OK...

...for a stock S4 that is!

LOL

I did say OK, not good.

Consensus is the disk will clean off in a week or so.

Have been putting off new disks for a while anyway. Must bite the bullet soon.

The Porche 993 turbo ones are good (as long as you use the matching calipers).

I also have a pair of nearly new stock disks sitting in my garage...

Hi Dave,

Can't afford proper brakes at the moment, so will be going with stock.

Are you planning to put stock brakes back on you car wnen you sell it, or do you want to sell the stock disks you have? Might be interested if they would fit mine.

Cheers,

David

Yes that was my intention, although when I do come to sell I would prefer to find a buyer who would appreciate the mods.

I wasn't being serious about selling the brakes to you. I can't imagine that they're worth much (maybe you can find out how much a brand new set is?) so it's probably best that I do hang onto them. Also I'll be honest that although they 'only' did about 13000 miles, the disks have a lip on them so they certainly don't have a 'full' lifespan.

Think the OEM disks are about £90 each. There were some deals a while ago, but I think Audi got the price wrong.

Been quoted £400 for front disks and pads fitted by Whites (includes discount for older car!). Similar for rears (less for parts, more for labour).

Insurance this month too

Still my house is starting to get back together after major building work (Have had the builders in since mid-May). Just at the finishing off stage. Over-budget of course.

DJG, do a search for Sidelines .
Richard did my discs at a ridiculous labour rate

David,

At that cost I'd advise that fitting used disks would be a false economy. If it includes parts, £400 seems reasonable to me for Audi labour rates. If you wanted disks & pads fitted for £100-200 then you would have bought a Fiesta wouldn't you?
