Where to go next???

Post by mark_eire » Thu Jun 26, 2008 2:08 pm

Hi all, I just joined this forum today after months of looking at it!!
I currently have a 2001 Audi s3 which I'm hoping to change very soon.
It is the 210 bhp model with Amd remap to 249bhp.
I am thinking about getting an s4 next!
Is there a real difference in the s3 & s4 as I would probably get bored quickly if it isn't a very different car as I usually last about 8/9 months before wanting a change but would now like to get a car which I'll keep a lot longer!
What should I be looking at getting in an s4?
I want a saloon, preferably facelift model in noggy blue but not bothered as long as I get a good example with some nice performance mods.
If anyone knows of such a car for sale anywhere in the Uk please let me know,

Thanks in advance
Mark

I followed a similar route. Used to have a Leon Cupra R with 286bhp, then went to an Evo VIII with 383BHP, now have a 320bhp/375lbft S4 Avant.

The S4 is quicker than the Cupra R was, and overtaking is its speciality.

Also you find on here that not many people buy the AMD figures as their not exactly accurate, you need to be talking to a gent call Doug from MRC for all Audi needs.
Evo VIII long gone
B5 S4 Avant long gone
Astra CDTI estate with 2 blown gearboxes long gone
BMW M Sport 320d Business Edition tourer the chariot of choice (with DMF about to die) gone
B8 S4 Avant is now the chariot of choice

The previous owner had the car Amd remapped at Jabbasport and I also have the rolling road printout which shows 249 bhp but I know what your saying I've heard some bad things about Amd.
I'm just hoping I can get a car that I'll keep as I'm getting sick of constantly changing cars!!
I'm also considering at a stretch... gettting a B6 4.2 s4
Which is the better s4? cost/performance wise?

If you get bored of your cars quickly get a B5 S4, there is much more scope on what you can do to it when compared to the V8 S4. The 2.7 should also be better on fuel when light footing it.

You could get an S4 and remap it with a full exhaust and gut the precats and get to nearly 350bhp, when your bored of that, you can K04 it and with extra mods see 500bhp on standard internals.
Audi S4.

RS4 Y-Pipe, K04ed, 440cc Injectors, Miltek Duel Exhaust, Miltek 100cell Downpipes, Uprated Fuel Pump, AP Racing 6 pots, RS4 rear brakes, FMIC, MRC Remap.
