Turbo noise

Post by matias » Wed Jun 11, 2008 8:52 pm

I have sold my old RS4 turbo to a friend, who wants to upgrade his S4..
When I had them there was nothing to hear from them.. After he has fit them to his car, you can hear one ot the turbo making some littel noise..
First we thourght there was a boost leak, but there isent.. Is it normal that you can hear the turbo?? It has only sitting on my car for about 10000 km, from new.

Still, might be an idea for your friend to get them refurbished first. Not sure on the prices of this but if you are starting to detect noises coming from them, then they might be on their way out.

Has his car got straight through downpipes? I've just fitted a full exhaust system including straight through downpipes and noticed a massive difference in turbo noise.

that's probably why, with no cats or sports cats the spooling whistle is much much more pronounced.
