Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about getting an S4 and was wondering if there's anything in particular i should watch out for. I can't really afford to spend more than £15k. Will i be able to get a reasonable example for this sort of money?
Thanks
John
Buying an S4
Re: Buying an S4
Hi Mate,
At risk of sounding like another RTFF, have a look round at earlier posts, there is quite a bit of info already here.
Try this link for an S4 buyer guide as well as a wealth of interesting info.
That said, you should find this useful:
Buyers Guide
(Go right to the bottom of the page for the buyers guide.)
Fontain have one for £15k at the mo, although I'd be tempted to spend a little more and get one that is fully loaded as it will make it more easy to sell should you have to.
Needless to say, FASH is a must....

Oh, and welcome to the Forums!
...so what are you driving at the moment?
I have a '98 S4, but I came from a A4 2.8Q

Re: Buying an S4
Thanks for the reply. I've downloaded the guide but haven't read it yet. I've got a jap import honda civic at th moment but i fancy something a bit bigger/quicker. S4 seemed like a good option when compared to equivalent BMWs.

Re: Buying an S4
It's a very nice looking car and my favorite colour but unfortunately out of my price range.
Are high mileage S4s best avoided completely? If not am i best looking for one with the turbos replaced if it's done sa 70k miles?

Re: Buying an S4
BUY A WARRANTY, preferably one from Audi UK. There are too many s4s popping turbos, manifolds and other ancillaries which require part or complete engine / gearbox removal to fix. Audi warranty costs £750 approx, and its better than a bill for £3k if both turbos need to be changed.
Great cars, but questionable reliability overall unfortunately.

Re: Buying an S4
I'll second that. The older S4s had problems which are expensive to fix. Yes you should try to find one which has had turbos & manifolds changed, but even then you ought to have warranty. Unfortunately to be honest there are not that many S4s about to choose from.
