Cheap TBB

Post by MarkB » Fri Sep 21, 2007 9:09 am

Just noticed Zena Racing are selling their Throttle Body Boot separate to the rest of the kit now. £20! +P&P

I've heard that they aren't actually that bad. I've bought a straight piece of hose from them and the quality wasn't as good as Samco, but at 25% of the price I wouldn't expect it to be.

I had/have the complete Zena racing hose kit. They are all different sizes and dont match the originals dimensions. Because they are different sizes (randomly) some of them were usable, but most were not. Cheap, but fairly crappy.

i agree with matt. i had issues with fitting my TBB from zena, i wasnt happy with fit, it threw out the angles for the plastic intercooler pipes. they say they copy samco exactly but who knows, i got some usable bits from the kit. i'll probs just get a bipipe in the future.

Surely a cheap TBB is like cheap bin liners, a false economy.

Can't be any worse than the piece of crap that Audi chose to fit to the car?

Also it seems odd that we have seen a few posts on the Zena hose kits on here in the past few months and no one had anything negative to say then...
Could it be that the there is a bit of elitism going on because we don't all have hundreds to splash out on near enough the same bit of rubber but with a logo on it? Realistically a bit of blue rubber is worth no more than that £100 IMO, sticking a logo on it doesn't make it suddenly worth nearly 3 times the cost.

Personally I dont have £300 to spare on either an over priced bi-pipe from APR or a kit from Samco. I just want to fix my boost leak without going via the knobs at Bath Audi.
