Looking to get a complete RS4 downpipe+exhaust... on an otherwise completely stock S4.
What sort of gain can I expect? Is it a waste if I am not chipped, or no bigger turbo?
What's the right price to pay?
Any fitment issues on a manual 2001 S4?
Complete RS4 exhaust, downpipe included...what sort of gain?

RE: Complete RS4 exhaust, downpipe included...what sort of g
fitment is ok but the RS4 setup sits a bit lower than the standard S4 exhaust, also it wont fit in the gap at the back that the s4 exhaust used to sit in (the small cut out) I dont think it looks too bad on my car which is an avant, not sure if it would be any different on saloon.
regarding gains, it might flow slightly better as standard as it is a bit bigger, but not much. you will notice a much bigger difference if you drill out the pre-cats on the RS4 down pipes before you fit it. on RS4 exhaust downpipe cats are 400cel and the main cats are 200 cell, on S4 exhaust precats are 200cell and main cats are 400 cell.
the two exhaust systems sound very similar
I paid about £300 for mine I think but it had done hardly any miles and looked almost new. They are fairly hard to find though and that is why many people go for milltek systems which are designed to fit perfectly and sound a bit louder.

Thanks a lot... I know about the bumper issue, need to trim it to fit the wider exhaust tip.fletchie55 wrote:fitment is ok but the RS4 setup sits a bit lower than the standard S4 exhaust, also it wont fit in the gap at the back that the s4 exhaust used to sit in (the small cut out) I dont think it looks too bad on my car which is an avant, not sure if it would be any different on saloon.

If I cut the pre-cats would I produce more emissions? I gotto check my emissions every 2 years.
I also thought RS4 sounds a lot better, it's the same? I HATE LOUD exhaust, but like a nice exhaust tone... wish I could hear one out, but cannot seem to find one around.
Isn't Milltek too loud? What Cats, pre-cats does it use?

I think you can choose what cats you use 100cell are more expensive though, many people here choose not to use any pre-cats as we dont get our emissions tested from cold like in the USA. yes drilling out the pre-cats will increase emissions when cold, but also makes the engine more efficient by reducing back pressure so you need to use less fuel to get the same performance as before
well thats what I like to think anyway!
when I changed my S4 exhaust for RS4 I couldnt notice any difference sound wise, the main difference is the whistle of the turbos now I have no pre-cats.
milltek do a resonated and non resonated exhaust system, I one is louder than the other although im not sure which.
