erh...excuse the hijack on the thread, but how can one tell if Audi has done the recall for the manifold, or any other recal for that matter. As I am the 2nd owner of my lovely S4, and it doesnt say anywhere in the service book about a recall. Can anyone enlighten me?

Just ask any Audi dealer to look your car up on their system. They should be able to provide you with verification of the full service history, including any warranty jobs, accident repairs (assuming carried out by Audi) and recalls.
I got the report of my local dealer for my car before I closed the deal. I also got a similar report off for my Golf to show any prospective buyers.

I can second this. Some of the very first UK S4s were recalled for a change of ECU, TBB, DV, and various hoses to be replaced (£1K of work). In some extreme cases the manifolds were known to suffer cracks.

My local dealer confirmed through the Audi network that the car had not been subject to a recall prior to purchasing my S4.

Audi honoured the recal some 4 years later!

The day or reckoning is upon us dropped the S4 off first thing, for the diagnosis, turbo's or manifold

I have been given a diesel S6 Avant, serious lack of power and i was amazed at the lack of traction.

OK Audi have had the car for the day and it now seems that the problem is still believed to be the manifold, and in order for them to go any further, they need to remove the engine to do further diagnosis, in order for them to do this I am responsible for the cost and the car needs to be booked in again! see below taken from the AUDI web Site:-

The cost of any investigation work can only be authorised by the vehicle owner, who will remain responsible for meeting that cost in the event that the repair is not covered by the Guarantee.

Are you aware that the policy is an AON one rather than a manufacturers!
