I'd heard Minhea was away, unless of course Doug is a whizz with the old ECU jiggery pokery too!

How long does it take drive in out for the remap and gutted precats? Can you drive down from Yorkshire have it done and make it back at a reasonable time?

Sorry for the q's, but my new S4 isn't mapped yet and my old one was mapped before I got it.
Hi Nick,

Doug did give me the impression he knew what he was doing on the old ECU

The custom remap itself is quite stright forward, once the ECU if flashed (10mins), its then a case of all jump in the car and then the magic begins with a few test runs up the old test track and hey presto job done on that front. However, the gutting of the pre-cats on my stock exhaust (not too sure what Zorts are, are they a form of foreign acne :P ) did take some time and Doug (bless him) did sweat a few pounds trying to gut these. You'll be amazed how deep these things go. On this front your looking at about 2 - 3 hours.

I also had a oil service done so all in all it took Doug around 5 hours to complete the job (with a few interruptions in between  ), and i live in Kent which is around a 4 hour trip there and back, so should not be a problem from Yorkshire.

No probs s4woody, i blame that bleeding pop singer that goes by the same name. Never had a problem before she came along.

Jeffw......I have been putting off having a meet up with you, just for that reason. I am more than happy with the way the car goes now and any time spent in your car will mean more ££££'s for MRC to extract from my wallet....BTW, are we still on for the rolling road?

Only problem now, I'm having to brake a lot more earlier now due to the increase in power, defo need new discs now, either grooved or drilled or both.

Shame the Porsche brake kit on the for sale/wanted forum went so quickly.

Might have to leave work early today and take a trip to the supermarket, the one a few miles away along some nice dual carriageways and motorway to pick up something, don't know what yet, but i'll find a something to tell the other half by the time i leave.

Cheers
Jem

Thought i would dig this post out to save another topic. All i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!

Started off with health check, Pressure test revealed a leaking F hose luckily i had my replacement with me just in case it was knackered just never had time to fit before going to MRC also had one way valve not working properly which Doug found a spare new one on the shelf. Quick spurt up the test road to reveal MAF reading of 220 as newish MAF along with Milltek dual and de-cats. Next came the pre-cat removal which Doug done in super fast time of only 2 1/2 hours although he had a lot of scrapes and scratches lol. Then off to test road again for the map several runs of tweaking with the timing ended up in a MAf reading of 275 ( any idea what that is roughly in BHP) Had a big grin on my way home back to Cornwall today after my stop in Cheltenham last night. It was so worth the 500+ miles for it.

Big thanks to Doug :beerchug:

275 using the standard divisor of .8 equates to 343.75 - this is all rule of thumb but probably close enough (probably + / - 5% )
