One-piece headlamp+indicator units

Post by Mika » Thu May 08, 2003 7:47 pm

Hello all!

I´ve got a pre 99.5 S4 with separate headlight (xenon) and indicator units. Now one of the headlight units needs replacement because of stonechip (perforation).

The cost for an old style headlight unit only is whopping 970 euros. Somehow the newer "all in one" units incorporating the indicator are only 270 euros.
So it would be cheaper to update to new one-piece units on both sides.

Have any of you done this before? Is it just a simple bolt-on and plug-in job or are any modifications needed?

Thanks,

Mika

Not sure, but you could contact VagParts They will probably know the answer and sell you the parts as well

I'm interseted in having this done myself and I remember reading somewhere that it is possible to do although it did involve some work to the internals where the headlamp unti goes. I wish i could remember where I read about it.

I'll have a search and if I find anything I'll post the link.

Thank you for your replies!

So it seems that at least some metal grinding is needed.
Certainly have to think twice about that..
