I know I keep harping back to my EVO 5. I had it a year and every time I drove it it felt fast enough. it had 360 bhp and 321 lbs of torque. I would never have another one as they are to much like a go-cart. When I drove Harry's RS4 with around 460bhp It felt faster than my evo so I reckon I would be happy with that. MAYBE

thats it in a nutshell get the nitrous and know once and for all will only set you back £500 for as much power as you want, wish i'd done that now

i always said I would be happy with my car(s) power whenitis a handful to drive. On S2s,with single turbo you need around 530bhp to make them a handful - but that is due to the lag and the big kick from one turbo. The problem with the 2.7bi is that it is too smooth! You can have 520bhp 2.7bi and you would not be bothered if the girlfriend drives it. You need one with lag and 550+ and decent torque to bea handful!

I have driven one 430bhp s4 with nangkang tyres - f@@k me that was bad! Keep the 350bhp and get crap/thinner tyres!!

NOS is cheating - Although I will never rule it out!

NOS is cheating - Although I will never rule it out!..isnt a remap a form of cheating..or is fooling the brain that its summit its not ok..
im all for big power what ever the way it comes..i think NOS is a good last resort but surely if you have modded all the right parts to give you the required power then NOS is just being greedy..aint it ??

A remap does not run out - well some don't! All depends on what you use the car for - just 1/4 miles then nos is great - everytime you use the car you have all the power you think you will have - But tracking the car or going for a spirited drive you will end up with a car with a lot less power than you started - Once you experience nos you will want it all the time - but that is not practical for everyone.

if you dont want to pull the engine to get more power, you can always go the other most effective way.... lighten the car up! remove seats, aircon, carpet, sound deadening, fit thinner glass for windows, remove stereo, trim panels, make carbon fibre bonnet, doors, boot, and even roof sections etc oh and always drive about with 1/4tank of fuel. improve your power to weight ratio and the car will be faster, feel faster and the lightening will make it handle better. also by removing sound-deadening the car will be louder and therefor fool you into thinking its faster too!

^^ just another option to investigate!

Evo or S4?
more money to buy, faster depreciation, loud, brash and bone shaking ride!
Vs
smooth ride, classy, less frequent servicing, lower insurance, expensive parts, generally havent been used and abused by chavs and less likely to get stolen

got to admit though... the Evo is realy good at what it was designed for, just depends what you want and need realy. if its pure acceleration get a caterham, if its top speed keep the audi or other german/italian car or for handling get an evo or exige. bottom line is there is no perfect car that will do everything and still be affordable to buy and use! even Mr Clarkson has had to get himself an entire garage full of cars to satisfy all possibilities!

Buy cheap and light seats, light 30AH battery, get rid of spare and buy 50gal racefuel or toluene and add some timing. too bad it wont make you happy long term as you are addicted already.

I have to admit, driving something else regularly is always good for appreciating your own car. Most satisfying when the other car is newer/new and jumping back in yours feels firmer, more solid etc.

I drive my g/f's polo mostly during the week, so the S4 is usually a fun weekend thing. So I guess I enjoy it more. BUT I am in exactly the same possition and want more.

I am not quick enough to take on modded scoobs & evos and there are just too many 350-400BHP cars nowadays that will show me their tail. I want to comfortably kill M3's (I can beat on... but not KILL), EVOs, Scoobs etc etc!
