Cruise control.

Post by gridders » Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:59 pm

If anyone out there wants full instructions on how to retro fit cruise to their B5 A4 with Drive by wire throttle, I have done this successfully and compiled a CD rom with full high res' colour photos, instructions, tools and parts list, links to shops/sites to get the parts and software to program the ECU.

I'm asking £4.99 for a CD rom just to cover my production and postage costs and will offer full e-mail support or if you are near Chelmsford, Essex, I can assist with the installation.

I've sold a couple to some very satisfied customers on here and I can assure you, I would have given a fiver for the information and saved myself days of internet trawling, phone calls, worry! Like everything, it's wquite easy when you know how, I even programmed my ECU myself, full instructions included. Oh and by the way, I'm not a mechanic but do have a good understanding/aptitude as you need to with this sort of thing.

P.m. me for further details. Any thing to help my fellow Audi nuts enhance their lives, I mean cars!

The price of the CD sounds fair, but I think most people would like to know the approximate cost of doing this before undertaking it. Also, maybe advertise it in the classifieds section.

Just had a brief flit round some of the sites for the bits. Reckon all you need will cost you in the region of 70-80 quid and a few hours at the weekend.

Plus the fiver for the CD which I think is great value considering the detail and clear photographs. I feel happy having a go myself.

Nice one Gridders.

I have the CD from gridders and have ordered the parts. The CD is very clear and concise and well worth the money in my opinion. Apart from the cruise being handy it will help re-sale value and by more than the £85 it will cost you to fit it.....its also nice to fit something that the dealers told me COULD NOT BE DONE....

Cruise is all fitted now. It took me about 2 hours all in. Dead easy, well recommended. I've tested it and it works and is much smoother than others I have used.

easy £500 to value of car.

Finally got mine fitted - small hitch set me back though. Anyone else doing this make sure that you have a fully charged battery. Mine was at the end of it's life so initialising cruise on VAG COM didn't work.

Anyway - new battery installed and cruise is now operating perfectly. It's really straight forward and a great Mod.

Cheers again to Gridders - a fiver well spent. Cheers also to Tartan Rob for the early pointers.
