Hi KayGee,
i reckon that up in your neck of the woods you should be spoilt for choice mate. Dealers will do it (for a price), but otherwise I'm sure AMD or MRC or anyone like that would be able to help you out too. You might also want to speak to Croft motors (www.croftmotors.co.uk) as I seem to remember that they will retrofit cruise to any car you buy from them..... so i guess they know what they're doing as well. They are based very near Uxbridge

Retro fit cruise control
Hi, I presume that you have confirmed that you have drive by wire throttle. ( In Neutral rev to 2000rpm ish and apply brake pedal. If the revs drop to idle, you have dbw and cruise is quite easy to fit)
I have just fitted this to my A4 V6Tdi, it took me about 4 hours but that was partly because I also took full high resolution colour photos as I went along and I'm not a mechanic but have a good understanding of car mechanics and electrics.
Any way I found the same as you, no specific instruction for the B5 A4 so I have prepared a CD rom with full step by step instructions, colour photos, precautions, a list of tools needed, the wiring diagram and links to web sites for parts, information and even the free diagnositc software and necessary cables. (Not free) and the instructions on how to program the ecu (Easy)
If you want one, I am asking £4.99 which includes postage and is basically to cover my costs in producing the package for fellow A4 nuts!
I reckon I could fit it in around 2 hours now I know what I'm doing. I will also offer full e-mail assistance and if you are near Essex, can assist in fitting. (You don't get much for a fiver nowadays! PM me or ring me on 07725-110027 (lunch times are best 12-1pm)

RE: Retro fit cruise control
as stated previously in this thread - all B5 S4s are DBW.
Quite so, I'm sure, as are most if not all diesels. Sorry chaps, my petrol days are numbered. Kids, mortgage, chancellor etc.........
But there are people who've posted on this S4 thread for other cars. So long as you have a drive by wire throttle, it's quite easy to fit Cruise using genuine parts for the OEM look. BUT DONT BUY the stalk/loom listed on VAG Parts site, speak to them and get the 4DO stalk. Neither does their loom fit!
