Machine polisher question
Hi all, I've just become the proud (and slightly nervous) owner of a Meguiars G220v2 polisher. I've yet to use it and before I do I have a question - what's the best technique to use on the surfaces of the car that aren't flat? I'm thinking especially the creases such as the ones on the bonnet (B7 RS4), how do you manoeuvre the pad around these? Also, the polish I will be using is Scholl Concepts S17+ - what sort of downwards pressure should I be applying to the machine whilst applying this? (Russ, you recommended this product, maybe you could supply some tips?). As far as I'm aware the car has never been detailed before or had any sort of paint renovation.

Re: Machine polisher question
those dual action polishers are a pita, take ages to break the polish down, but a good start.
do a panel at a time, dab the compound over the panel, start slow and go for it,

Re: Machine polisher question
V2 is actually a pretty good machine. Cruise control, more rpms, less power consumption and easier access to the brushes to name a few pros
Gone: Audi RS4 Avant, Alpina XD3, Smart Brabus, McLaren 12C,

Re: Machine polisher question
Hi mate you want to be spreading the polish at click 3 on the machine and work it at number 4, after applying a fair amount of pressure for the first few passes crank it up to 5 with a little more pressure for correction....when you switch the machine off make sure its still on the panel , just so the pad doesnt fly off....as for S17+ you couldnt have chosen a better product, works quicker than any other polish with correction achievable in around 60-80 seconds with Rotary but expect a little longer with a DA....if you send me your email address i will forward the Scholl Guide on for you i have done for Scholl Concepts....KernowPete wrote:Hi all, I've just become the proud (and slightly nervous) owner of a Meguiars G220v2 polisher. Thanks for the email Russ - what pad(s) would you recommend using with S17+ bearing in mind my paintwork 'ain't too bad. I'm just looking to tidy up minor scratches, nothing too deep, and the odd bit of swirling. Also I want to bring out the shine where its gone a bit dull in places.

A17+ works best with the Scholl Orange pads mate and not only can you correct with that you can also achieve a proper finish with it so no refining needed....follow the guide mate and let me know how you get on....
