Not an RS but still very nice....

Yet another Audi, and yes another Phantom Black one, or should I say Phantom Grey, my initial inspection of the paint raised an eyebrow or 2, Roger Moore eat your heart out....it was indeed pretty poor...has had plenty of work but just a little bit lifeless...the bonnet was the main issue as the paint is a little dry and almost invisible, caution had to be exercised and again this is where experience counts, dealing with paint for 25 years I had an inkling that this was not going to be easy, although there were well over 400micron in most parts of the bonnet this didnt mean that there was plenty of clearcoat to work with, it was quite obvious that someone was scared to polish it after paint....you will see what i mean, even the after shots are a little tainted as this could really have done with MORE paint....it all started out like this....
So just a dirty looking motor by the looks of things, but we know different.... so i cracked on with the wheels....Scholl Concepts Rim 7 for this just to show how effective this is but I have done a review on this which can be found here....
Although not necessary to agitate I did anyway....
They were then rinsed....no pics and then onto the next wheel which was not agitated....
You really should try Rim 7...seriously good and saves time....suitable for all wheel types, even matt....anyway moving on having had a snow foam, wash and clay it was round again for some defect spotting....
Gloss paint splashes to the rear lower doors, quarters and bumper....
No strong chemicals or thinners needed to remove this little lot just my trusty friend Mr Shaver....
Lights, Camera and Action....
Bonnet was then tended to to get a feel for the paint and came up like this with one hit of S17+ on Orange....I would have gone S3 Gold Edition but had my reservations about the paint holding up under the stress of S3....
This one shows the level of defect where not much is coming back due to the severity of the dry, thin clearcoat....to say this is the most apprehensive I have been in a good few years is an understatement....
The next task was the OS Rear Door....not in the best nick but still....life goes on, and so did the boys from the Fez Gang....
By far the best panel was the roof....not much a miss here, very minor swirling but still very oxidised....
Just a few deeper RDS remain....
The boot lid went something like this....
The angles dont show much correction being achieved....so I took a 50-50 with no light, just me, a camera and a line....
A few more of the devils work, of who'm you will see later....and when i say you will see, you will see the actual place where this lot came from ....
And under different lighting....
After flying round on completion with various lighting the sun made an impromptu appearance so i took advantage....for all of a few seconds....
And all finished up with a coat of EZ Creme and Collinite 845....what a combo....pure genius but the bonnet was still not too satisfactory so out with the Onyx....just a single coat but made such a difference....anyway here is the finished article with the devils workers in the background....
Bonnet still looks a bit drab....not reflecting as it should....
The gates to hell....just over the road and down a bit....
Wheels cleaned and de-contaminated with Scholl concepts Rim 7....Protected with Permanon Aircraft Supershine and tyres dressed wit Meguiars Endurance....
The engine bay had a little bit of a spruce....
