Tuesday this week saw me starting work on another fast Audi. This one in particular was a joy to work on, the car belongs to the MD of Revolution Motorsport and is one of the company’s project cars. So as you can imagine it has some pretty serious modifications on it, yet still looks every bit an RS4.
The car was dropped off Tuesday morning and this is what i was presented with.

Just some general grime and muck, but the paint was very rough and suffering with some quite bad tree sap contamination. This detail was for the exterior mainly, as the interior was in good order, and only half of it was in the car anyway as some was away getting retrimmed.

Before

After

On with the wash stages, usual foam pre wash followed by 2BM, followed by tar removal, decontamination and clay bar. Hard to reach areas and seals etc cleaned with detailing brushes.

Obligatory foam shot!

Muck coming out of seals!!

Leaving this.

Masked up and on with the polishing, the paint was in really good condition given that its never been machine polished before. Some light wash swirling to remove and some deeper RDS in the usual places such as around the fuel filler and drivers doors. Try as I might I cant remember to take pictures of the polishing process. Once I get going thats it.
The best I could get of the defects

Work in progress

Some of the mess I create while busy!!!

Roof after polish and refinement

After the polishing was finished car was moved outside and rinsed to remove the dust and at this point I gave the engine bay a de-grease and clean as well. Rinsed on low pressure and allowed to dry.
Full car given an IPA wipe down before LSP. Today I opted for Dodo SN Hybrid, have finally got the process down to get this to go on well, less is more so to speak. After leaving it 45 mins to fully cure it was buffed off. I still felt that the Pearlescent paint had more to give, so I went for a layer of Dodo Purple Haze on top about 90 minutes later. I must say that on this colour it was a match made in heaven.
While waxes etc were curing, all dressing of tyres, trims and engine bays were done. As well as Rain-X application and some wheel sealant. Leaving the car ready for collection and looking like this.

Insane flake pop on this one!!!

More afters

If you got this far many thanks for looking, apologies for lack of process pics, the few I did take didn’t really capture on the camera what the naked eye was seeing. DSLR time I think is coming!!
Thanks to Glenn for the opportunity.
