Post 'Ring Clean Up (poor mans detail)

Post by HYFR » Mon Apr 25, 2011 11:31 pm

best part of 1,000 miles tearing through Europe, couple of laps of the Ring and half the worlds population of bugs and a few tonnes of sand from the Sahara dest had left the cab looking abit worse for wear

so, up early this morning for a bit of a clean

now before I left for the Ring, I gave it probably the deepest clean and protection i've ever done,

here's how it looked this morning

as I said, before i left for the Ring I sealed the wheels in Poor Boys Wheel Sealant as I was expecting muchos brake dustos !!

So, sprayed on some Wheel Cleaner / Brake Dust remover jobbie

Image

Gave it a scrub and rinse, came up like this

Image

:biggrin3:

Next job, rinse the whole car with the pressure washer.

Then, whack on a load of snow foamy type stuff ... I use Cherry Snow foam from ebay

Image

Image

Rinse off, and left with this

Image

Image

Image

Getting there

Next, whack another load of snow foam on

Image

Image

Whilst its dwelling, give it a wipe over with a clean sponge

Then rinse off

Left with this

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then dried off with a chamois

Next stage, a layer of protection wax / polish

whack it on

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

then whack it off !!

The Interior of the car was minging as had had the roof down for most of the 3 day trip !!

Had to hoover it all, floor, seats, dash everywhere to get the pollen / sand particles

Seats all cleaned with Gliptone Liquid leather cleaner and conditioner

came up a treat

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Last thing to do .... treat the tyres back to black

Image

And its all done

now for the final shots

:jump:

Very nice! Loving the rear number plate! Have you debaged it recently?

Your neighbour with the block drive and the Mk6 Golf doesn't have a drop kerb? They must come home and find they cannot get onto their drive from time to time.

wow splendid results there Dave, I bet you was fecked after that!

Now that is a lot of pollen, hay fever nightmare.

Please don't tell me you used a chamois leather? Waffle weave towel all the way dude.

The thing I hate about these car cleaning threads, it makes me want to go out and clean mine!
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Paintwork looks great! Are the wheels Titan? They look more shiney than normal but could just be the sun?

Yeah the wheels are more gun metal and have a gloss finish

They are not oem titan colour

The paint work is pretty good on the cab

That's basically my standard wash procedure

Its nothing special I know but better than rain water and sandpaper

Yes, the thought of that and sponge on black was like nails down a chalk board to me  ...Waffle weave only safe if you use pat dry method, if your a cheeky wiper, then uber fluffy towels  I use a towel combo for different areas/ needs as required.
