Morning all :bigwave:

This weekend been busting some swirls on this v6 A4 Cab that I did several weeks back. The first det ail was just a clean up to bring it up to a base standard of clean and a protect until we had some nice weather to tackle the swirls; previously we just masked them.

You will see form the below pics and clips that it looks like somebody had been over it with a brilo pad, probably years of abuse of auto car wash machines, those brushes from the jet wash places and the supermarket hand washes.

Didnt have days to work on this so its what could be achieved in a single stage correction that would remove as much of the swirls as possible then mask any remaning. It has been a full day in-itself, went over it this morning early with an ONR wash for quickness and then a strong APC pre-wash through a sprayer to remove as much of the old LSP as possible then a final rinse and wipe down with ONR.

Heres a quick clip, was experimenting with the movie function on my camera, may start adding more clips into my deta il thereads if can illustrate a point or method. technique better than by a photo alone.

I think you get the idea, there were lots of swirls

Products of choice were my Kestrel DAS-6 DA polisher and a range of Menzena Polishes and Pads, the paint gauge and some IPA for post wipedown to inspect.

These specifically were Menzerna S500, RD3.02, 85RE and also 203s and White, Orange, Yellow Pads. All from highest to lowest cut order respectively.

Whilst the 3 step approach certainly delivered the results, it was way too time consuming, so switched to 203s and an orange pad and decided to complete a single hit and see what the best could be achieved with that combo and anything else would be maked and cleaned up with a filler heavy product.

Steve, I've found having done the wife's A2 this weekend that on heavy swirls using S100 with a hexlogic yellow pad (cutting / compounding) with 2 hits and then 1 hit of PO85RD (?? 2/10 cut 10/10 polish) with a hexlogic greed pad (light cut / heavy polish) is the quickest way to get maximum results and gloss out of Audi paintwork since the clearcoat is so rock hard! It meant I could get away with just using CG EZ Creme Acrylic and then my free sample of Mer Hybrid Wax to add on top post IPA wipe down.

Had my hands full so no pics, not enough time!

Thanks for the info. I may look at some hexlogic pads and see how they compare over Menzerna.

I found the Menz pads too brittle. Had a white cutting spot pad and it disintegrated on the first attempt. The Hexlogic pads and far more consistent and spread heat evenly across the pad. There is a GB on DW from CG FYI.

I agree they do need a lot more care and are brittle, I disintergrated about 3 in the course of Dannys RS4 detail at MRC.

When maximum cut is needed they are the most appropriate pad for the job out there IMO, but it comes at that price of them not lasting long and are stiff and a bit if a pig to work with must admit, but then they are much cheaper to start with. For all round use then I like Hexlogic yes, switched from LC. I bought a bulk lot of Menz pads through FlexiPads so go them dirt cheap so didnt care if tney didnt last too long,

Will take a look at the GB.
