Hi all :bigwave:

Following on from Part 1 http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=89133 I Had the pleaure to top up the detail on this one for Mark. We got rained off previously and couldn't finish the 2nd day, so I promised we would have another crack at it when we had a break in weather.

So on with the thread and pictures :D

Products used in a nutshell...

ONR - Wash
Espuma RD50 - Tyres
VP Trim Glitz - Trim
Jeffs Werkstatt Acryllic - Body/ Glass
Colinite 915 - Body
Colinite 845 - wheels

Looking in pretty good shape still since pt2 several weeks back. After washing it was mostly superficial.

Mirrors had held up well as a daily commuter, Colinite doing its stuff :D
Image

Wheels also bearing up well and protected well by the Colinite

Washed with ONR

Wheels had held up pretty well with the 845 previously applied, below show results achieved with just ONR applied through a sprayer bottle and some brushes, no wheel cleaner products required.

Quality protection from colinite, no scrubbing or wheel cleaners, just spray on ONR and simple swipe with brushes to reveal clean rims. Topped up with another layer of 845.

Steve, have you tried Blackhole or Blackfire Wet Diamond on darker cars as yet?

Cracking work Steve,

the wheels have come up a treat. I'm surprised how easy the grime came off.

These were mine, it was caked on.

I was actually thinking of watermarking pics for the future.

Steve, I used a compound made by farecla it took about an hour per wheel to work the ingrained dirt out.
I used this in conjunction with a mild 3M pad by hand. After this I got to work with a basic Auto Glym Tar remover which eventually broke down the tar and glue holding the weight stickers on. After this I used meguiars wheel wax for protection. That's probably why i'm looking at taking my cleaning to the next level with products that you have used and shown us all.

Sounds like tough work  good efforts though :D

You now need to protect them with a decent sealant or wax. There are a few well respected Wheel sealants (PB wheel sealant) howeverI have some favourite sealants/ Waxes that I use , Colinite 845, FinishKare 1000P, Opti-Seal. FK100P is more durable I would say but is a bit harder and longer to apply being a paste wax. I tend to use this when the wheels are off and cleaned and can then get good access to them and apply a coouple of coats to the backs adn will last for several months. When the wheels dont come off I use 845 for fronts and backs, its a liquid so easier to apply to the RS wheels and others that are a bit more complicated and applying with foam pad or brushes etc can get to the backs of wheels through spokes. Opti-Seal is purs simplicitym it is a spray on/ wipe on walk away product. It is a spray sealant and you just spray on, wipe over and it flashes off, I then buff it later to remove any runs, streaks etc.

Depends on how much use the car gets but they all seem to last me a couple of months at least and as per the thread, allows most of the dirt to either blast of with presure washer and no cleaner or just regular shampoo on mitt or brushes. If you use a wheel cleaner etc, will strip the protection of the wheels.

Here's a thread of how I had to keep my white wheels white, it was a labour of love (or is that obession) keeeping them that way
