Alloy wheels
Alloy wheels
Got new tyres fitted with the audi wheel weights (to keep it looking same as rears). Problem is the old weights stickyness is still on my alloy and has attracted brake dust like a fly round sh1t.. How do I remove this ?
And another one.... what brushes, products etc do you use on your alloys. I have only used my car shampoo to date (do alloys weekly) and wondered if there was something better out there.
Thanks

RE: Alloy wheels
If your happy with the normal shampoo, and wash them weekly, why use a harsher product.
Thats my opinion anyway.

I just spray some APC through the spoke for that and the calipers!

Prespray with Snowfoam, then Megs APC, same brush as Mikey for the insides and a couple of others for the front bits and the calipers. If I can be bothered afterwards I usually give them a coating of Poorboy wheel sealant but its an occassional thing. I am in two minds if the extra work putting it on offsets the amount of help it actually is over elbow grease for cleaning.

Thanks for that - have ordered the brush and some cleaner.
What should I do about the sticky wheel weight mark that is still on the alloy ?

Re: RE: Re: RE: Alloy wheels
Intensive Tar remover from Autoglym removed mine off my old alloys well enough with a bit of encouragement. Swan Lighter fluid (like you use in a Zippo lighter) also works, just remember to wash it off afterwards and you can also get sticky stuff remover from WHSmiths and the like.lma07 wrote:Thanks for that - have ordered the brush and some cleaner.

Thanks Mikeyquattro.... bought the EZ detail brush and the bilberry wheel cleaner (diluted to 1:5) - wow - what a difference. So much quicker to clean.
Just added snowfoam and the pressure washer attachment to my xmas wish list.
