Does a claybar remove light polishing swirls? If not what should be used?
I use zymol on the car quite regularly but I wouldnt mind having a day where I do the job from scratch again.

Claybars are great for removing any gritty deposits , i think your going to have to get a mop on swirls

If you use Zymol, start with washing in Clear autobathe then Lehm Klay 3 with Lube, this will get rid of all old polish and marks in the paint etc. Then go over the car with HD Cleanse then hand apply the wax. I use Glasur as it suits the colour of my car. Then when you wash it in the future use the Clear and then Field Glaze

Just remember always do everything in straight lines not circles and all should be ok!

...puts me to shame. Two capfuls of Auto Glym, and a leather if it's not raining!

You could also try using Swissol medium cleaner fluid. Does the same job as HD clense but more effective. You may have to get a detailer round to machine polish the swirls out. I recently used Glyn O'Donnell of www.elitedetailer.co.uk His work is very good.

Thanks guys, all is fine, i just have a very faint one on the roof which will come out with scatchex, but i thought id do the whole car and do it properly. When I picked the car up from new in April I hd cleansed it and zymoled it and now I just wash with zymol autobathe (sheepskin mit, 2 buckets etc). I then make a point of zymolling the front spoiler, bonnet and wings purely so the pesky fliescant get a good enough grip.

Highly debatable. Personally I find that swissol/swissvax products do not go on as well as Zymol, and are harder to remove and buff off.

Neither will remove swirl marks properly, for that you'll need a machine polisher and someone that can use one.

Like I said, its debatable! And its one of those debates that will continue through the world of detailing for a long time. I have serveral £ks of Swissol in my garage and I think its not that good. My cars get Zymol detailed once a month now. A detailer will always recommend the products he's using. Best try them yourself and gain your own opinion.

I think the swissol and Zymol are both excellent products. But i believe its the detailer themself that really gets the results.Who details your car Chris? Is it Clark from polished bliss?

A small element of truth there Stevie

As with all products, their final result is only as good as the preperation - the wax contributes to "a small cherry on the cake"!

Swissvax v Zymol; the arguments will never end. Both are fine products and with a wax from each, priced at a similar point, no-one will ever be able to pick out what wax is what....providing it's applied to a well prepared surface.

I use both in a pro-capacity and both require different techniques.
However, I do have a preference for one over another

A little excessive IMO.
If a premium quality wax has been applied, it'll need no more than regular and simple washing/maintenance work to keep it looking good for at least 3 months.
Unless, of course, this is what you mean?

Yes, its Clark. Fortunately/unfortunately I live about five miles from Polished Bliss. I have a maintenance contract with them so the car gets a monthly coat of Vintage wax. I was up to about seven coats this year on the S3 before switching the contract over to the RS4. The depth in colour is amazing once you get a few coats on. Hard to describe but much deeper with the each coat, the car just looked bluer.

I thought it was mate seen some pics of your S3 and the results were superb. They certainly know there stuff.
