Any tips to prevent wheel lacquer peeling?

Managed to kerb one of my new MTM reps which have only been on the car a few weeks. :x

The kerbing is really light and hardly really noticeable, it's just on the the outside of the kerb. The problem is that with these being aftermarket rims, looks like the lacquer is very thin and is flaking a little around the scratch.

I'm after some ideas for something to put over the scratch to prevent the lacquer from peeling off and making the damage worse. Was wondering if there are any magical liquids/paints/waxes which can save my lovely new wheels!

Any help would be appreciated.

Suppose you could try spraying some laquer on yourself:?

The main thing this time of year would be to keep the road salt out.........and dont do it again :bash: ;)

Mask carefully if you're going to spray!

As a temporary cosmetic repair (it'll last for ages) get a touch up lacquer brush kit, a good blob will seal it, or clear nail varnish is just as good.

Thanks for that Dave. Think i'll hunt down a touch up kit. Suppose it'll be a handy thing to keep about anyway.

Yes, still do it - and wil be doing it soon.

I'm probably going to do 3 or 4 UK wide tours this year...just needs careful organising, all got rather chaotic last year.

Hoping to be out and about in March be won't be venturing too far South until I can be sure of better weather. Probably be right down South in late April.

Wher abouts are you?
