Before flames I have searched the forum and the interesting posts were 2/3 years ago regarding 'Banana milkshake' wheel wax from Bushy. What is the latest on this as his website seams to be down? I would be interested to learn on members favourite products as the brake dust / wheel cleaning is becoming a drag.

Think the best option to start with is keep the dust off as much as possible in the first place I try and blast it off on a regular basis with the hose... For the inside of the alloys I use a bog brush and Dimondbrite's alloy cleaner. It's pretty strong stuff though... I'd be interested to hear what members use after the cleaning process, any waxes, sealants?

I use toughseal alloy wax - works a treat...just wash with soap n water then...after a few months (depends on no of washes) re-apply ...do a google for toughseal and you should find it

Thanks for the input, just fitted new discs and pads so that is why the brake dust is such a problem at the moment. Do you use this toughseal on painted wheels, mine are S4 alloys?

Yes, Dave seems to be obtaining deserved legendary status and you have a very neat looking RS6. Picked up the tip on the Tesco toilet brush with Viro-Sol de-greaser/cleaner, be interested to learn what he used to polish them with afterwards?

Simply cleaned with the "Virisol" and bargain basement wheel brush. I don't and never have used any form of wax or sealant on my wheels and they still look as good as new.

Virisol will remove any waxes applied to the wheels - it's an extremely cheap, safe and effective wheel cleaner. If used diluted 1 part Virisol 10 parts water weekly you won't have problems with dirty wheels!
Simply apply with a trigger spray, have a cuppa, agitate with the loo brush if req'd and hose off.

It can be used neat initially on heavily soiled wheels.

I will be starting work on my summer wheels tomorrow, if the weather is anygood. They are multispoke split rims and are a pain to clean at the best of times. I will be hunting out the Autoglym from under the sink, or some old Megs that I have and giving them a good wax inside and out before putting them on.

The lacquer on the BBS rims is very poor and the rims are polished. Hence I prefer to just use 'Gold class' shampoo on them and an old Lambswool mitt. Then maybe a rub with a nice soft bath towel.

The Wax application is a real pain in the arse to do but seems to save time and energy later on. Most of the brake dust simply washes off. Anyway as I have said before I would not waste money on any specific 'wheel waxes' just use some old stuff, or the wax you use for your car.

hi everyone,

for cleaning wheels i use a good quality paint brush with the cimped metal wraped carefully in insulation tape, this will protect from scratches, with a hose pipe on trickle in attendance. This is perticulaly good at removing the dust fromt he calipers. the other tool i use is made from a wooden dowl about 300 x 10mm dia, get an old fashion mop and cut 10-15 lengths, secure using a plastic electical ties to one end. When wet, again with the hose pipe in attendance, it is brill at cleaning the inside of the wheel rim, and if careful, will get between the wheel and caliper. With the stings heavy with water u can clean most of the rim, wipe down with diluted Mire, chamois to finish, brand new, well 4 a mile.
