Which DIY products for a new car coating?

Post by kmpowell » Thu Jan 29, 2015 1:34 pm

I'm not into perfection detailing , mainly because it's a family wagon. However, given my new car lives outside I'd like to give it a bit of prep and seal within a reasonable budget so that when it does get washed it's easy to do and looks nicer for longer. Also I have a young child so I'd like to coat the leather in something to make sure it stays wipe clean and fresh.

I use the two bucket method, along with washmit etc, but it's the prep bit I'd like a bit of advice on given it's a brand new car that has relatively fresh paint that wont need too much prepping. I'm assuming a very mildly abrasive polish followed by a high-def wax will do the trick, but which products for something that's long lasting given it doesn't go near 'hand wash' places.

Thoughts and experiences if you were in my shoes?

TIA
