How to clean a shiny steering wheel?

Had my RS4 a month now - loving it. In the process of getting to know its small bumps and scuffs through giving it a darn good clean and it comes up really nice. One thing lets it down though and thats a slightly shiny steering wheel. Any ideas on how to restore it to a better looking state? I remember trying to clean one once before and it went all sticky - dont want to risk that happening on this one!

Thanks in advance,
Mak.

If it's leather, then you can try a hot towel or steam. One way is to put a damp towel in the microwave, heat it up and simply cover the bit you want to clean.

Went for this...

Applied very hot damp MF and left it for 30 seconds, applied Raceglaze leather cleaner sparingly with detailing brush and agitated all over and then left that for a few minutes. Finally wiped off with damp MF and bingo - shiny steering wheel now looking like the day it was made. Did the same to the handbrake and the gear knob - very impressed.
