Hi Guys,
If anyone's a keen detailer I'd love some advice please. Having just joined the fold after selling my R32 for an RS4 I found a lovely example which is really straight.
However the paint is full of spiders webs from poor washing as well as a few choice scratches. Being a keen amature detailer, I bought the car knowing this'll come out but I didn't expect the top coat to be harder than my R32!
I've tried with a couple pad and compound combinations and I managed to remove a fair few scratches on one side of the bonnet yesterday but it took be nearly 2 hours!
Is it just the case that the DA isn't man enough and should I just move to an orbital? Or is my technique, pad and compound mix wrong?
FYA I'm using -
Megs G220
Megs Pro 105
Elite White and orange cutting pads
Also tried Menzerna PO85 which I've sworn by but this isn't touching it either.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks guys

I use the blue pad and set it at 5, works fine with megs paint restorer.

I have the same problem. I used the 220 with Scholl Concepts orange pads and tried both SC S17+ and Meguairs Ultimate Compound but only really succeeded in removing the superficial scratches and swirls.
Anybody want to point me in the direction of a different pad/compound combo?

After some expert advice, I'm getting there buddy. Try some Microfibre pads and Megs 102, it cuts beautifully.
But my G220 died today after a good thrashing! It was a V1, I just don't think it was up to the pasting. So I'm hoping a rotary will cut down on the time its taking. Have a look at my thread in the B7 section
