Steve, can't thank you enough for taking the time to answer our queries in such detail. Mine will be due a clean next week so I'll have a play then. I'll mix up a 1" to a bottle dilution and then a 2" as you say. As you said I could store the different dilutions for use at a later date. TBH, I don't find the 1" ratio to give bad cleaning (quite the opposite) but I'd love to see how clean it would be after dwelling for 20-30 mins.
I'll also order some of that Espuma stuff this week if I get time. Actually thinking about it, I'll have 3 cars to do so I might line them all up, mix up three bottles and see what happens. Could give some interesting pictures.
Sevy RS4 Detail Project Part1
No problem Phil happy to oblige and share knwledge.
I really think the cleaning ability is related to the amount of time the product is left to dwell on the car, therefore if not thick enough it will not cling long enough to be effective.
I have been doing some further experiments today and will post up the pics later.
For Espuma stuff I would recommend Tim below...I have known Tim for several years now and going back when we had Subarus in Hampshire Subaru Forum/ Club... one of the people who got me intererested in detailing myself, I buy all my Espuma stuff from Tim as well some towels and his infamous in the detailing world 'Envy Brushes'

I hope to arrange some group buys with Tim at some point hopefully.

Hi all
more tests/ trials for you this weekend
Here is my AutoBrite Foam Lance and this is the adjustment knob on the top. Below shows some pics using the same bottle mix, but just adjusting the knob that controls the mixture/ water ratio.

Using three different settings here, fully open, nearly full closed and midway...

Nearly full closed and Midway (too much water, not enough foam)....

Conclusion .....is that even with the correct washer, lance and foam dilution mix, you can still get no foam... the water/lance bottle mixture control is the key here.... so some lances maybe better than others.
