anyone know what this imperfection might be?
Re: anyone know what this imperfection might be?
As above, I stopped using G technic, had it on my Mini from brand new, and on its 1 year re coat with with Polish Angel Ceramic, the colour of the cars stands out a lot better and it also stands up to the Bird poop as there is a Tree right outside my house, I try and tell the mrs not to park there but she does.!

Re: anyone know what this imperfection might be?
I'm intrigued by Polish Angel - Mark/Trups - I've looked at the Polish Angel site, but I;m struggling to spot the 'Ceramic' product
. Is it a coating or Polish?

Its http://www.polishangel.co.uk/products/glasscoat-cosmic. I do all the other 'steps' before finally using this
p.s. The "After opening you can use it for 2 years" is rubbish but everything else they say is true and then some!
My car but I didn't do the paint correction as fully as I could've as was rushing to prep for AITP last year.

Have a look here, I've not seen many detailers use it - http://www.facebook.com/pages/dooka-det ... 8679688855
If you scroll down to around the 27th April that's my mini in there for it's yearly detail, 1st year was exo and now it's polished angel. I use rob from dooka all the time and recommend him to others as I know he won't disappoint, my mates c7 rs6 in Suzuka is in the in August.
Also, there was mitts are special, they are made out of rejected floor matts from Bentley :p

Re: anyone know what this imperfection might be?
Whoever put this info in your head fella is seriously deluded, yes it looks superb and is so easy to use but myself and a few others including other pro detailers have witnessed greater increase in tar deposits sticking to it, I have also witnessed on many clients cars that bird lime eats pretty much straight away and scratch resistance was poor, marring from a 2 bucket maintenance was greater than a normal polymer sealant, not a product I care to apply to my customers vehicles if i am to be honest. Yes its good if you apply this to vehicles you are never going to see again but when i get 3 clients in the space of 3 months come back with increasing problems with the coating then its time to move on, and unlike Gtechniq the customer care was frankly very unprofessional, to this day i am still awaiting a response from them regarding the above issues, which doesn't do them any justice, yes they could have sold me a duff batch but I have no idea as to this because they haven't responded.esp_mm-270 wrote:This gear is ok for trailer princesses but road cars.....?
Stick 2x Coates of Polish Angel ceramic on it! 90-95% as good and 400% tougher! Lasts up to two years, none of this two bucket rubbish needed (unless ur not well in the head and drag the sponge along the bottom of bucket!!!) and just quick detail spray when ur done washing the car.
Btw Kev, that's what I used on mine but I didn't take the time to flat the paint off properly (ie 4 types of light, using the rotary etc).
Yes its good in the looks and ease of application dept but that soon dwindles away, and i used to swear by the stuff, used it on a regular basis, but as i say, my business is based on reputation and products are important as are client reviews, when they come back negative its time to move things along, but as with all products, what work for some wont for another.

Re: anyone know what this imperfection might be?
I came to this conclusion so you have just called me deluded. Thank you
Look, I've been cleaning cars for over 25 years, back then there weren't a lot more than t-cut and polish to work with. By the time I worked at the Ferrari dealership 10 years ago things had moved on a lot and maybe bird poo has too but I still stand by what I said.
Scratch resistance is poor? Omg, when I got to that bit my eyes just glazed over. I'll give you stone chips (maybe you or one of your "professional detailers" could advise me on a product that can resist this?) but baring brickwork scratch resistance is better than most and as I have it on two of my cars and one is an old Merc I use for work I think I have some experience (but of course I'm deluded, so much so I forgot for a moment, sorry about that).
In conclusion, the only thing I think I agree with you is that what works for one, might not for another. I understand you jumping to the defence of another "professional detailer" but think on, you had no idea what I do for work, something diabolical has happened to Kev's car (who is a lovely man btw) and had this bird lime been on my car, there wouldn't be an issue.
Sincerely,
The Mad (read deluded) Hatter.

Re: anyone know what this imperfection might be?
Not going to argue the point over whether anyone is deluded and i apologise for the comment as it came across as though you were told to do this by a 3rd party, not really fussed about the product but as i said, they never replied to my questions regarding tar spots, scratches and marring occurring on Cosmic coated cars, and it wasnt me that raised the complaints it was my customers, and as you will be aware customers are your feedback, now i am not knocking you at all but to say applying this will last for 2 years by simply washing with a bucket and sponge and a little qd is a bit over stretched to be fair.
Oh and if we are playing the who does what for a living and for how long I was painting for Porsche and Ferrari almost 30 yrs ago which is why i do what i do today, but i will always say that everyday is a training day and you learn something new each day that comes around, whether that be products or techniques. Products wise the PA stuff worked for me and worked well, but it didn't for my customers, and they pay for it so I have to look after their interest.
Regarding stonechips there is a product on the market, fair does it wont stop a fair size pebble etc but it will withstand the impact of most gravel/road rash and thats Max Protect UNCR.
Regarding bird lime it will destroy any coating that is on the car, all depends what bird and what its been eating.
Again sorry if my comment came across the wrong way but I just dont agree, and many others wont that 1 bucket and a sponge followed by QD will look after your car for 2 years.

Re: anyone know what this imperfection might be?
Thanks for the reply and reading this post your points are much more apparent.
I absolutely agree in principle but I'm a year in on my RS and I only 2 months ago started putting it in the garage (clear out) and it's holding up well but I will concede I've not examined it under different lighting and as I said before (previous post?) I didn't correct paint as you should ie a quick da all over (yes I know but time was short).
I agree too with birdies recent diet has a great effect ie acidity/alkaline (more the later I have always felt).
A very nice and wise comment about the learning something new every day. You're just letting the world pass you by if you do not!
My feeling about 2x bucket cleaning is that either bucket salesman (to sell more buckets) or detailers concerned about their customers messing up the good work done by detailers and blaming our work. My position is that there shouldn't be anything big enough on the paintwork to cause an issue if the chem/pressurised water stage is done to our OCD levels? I DO advise some of the less OCD customers to be very careful cleaning and even 2x buckets but right or wrong on this, peeps here know the crack I feel.
Thanks for the product info, I shall look in to this. I'm hoping it could be used just at the front end unless I find it's fantastic all over? I've seen peeps with clear vinyl wrap for protection but would be great to find something that's tough and doesn't leave an edge line.
I don't have a speedy internet to check (even if it exists) but was is cosmic that did the general and paint coded coating? I have only used the paint coded one so IF there is another one I can't comment as not used it.
I also absolutely agree that the service you received from them alone would put me off the same as you have, that is really bad for a premium product!
Thanks again for responding

Re: anyone know what this imperfection might be?
No thankyou for understand in that what i said was worded incorrectly
the thing with products is they are tested in different climates to the majority of places they are sold in and diets regarding our feathered friends are different worldwide, dont get me wrong looks and ease of use for PA is phenomenal and had it not been for the few customers that were actually from my area that complained i may have still been using it today, i do feel it does have its place as do many other products, the Max Protect UNCR is a particular favourite of my clients for front end protection but i do have this on a few cars fully coated, PhilTs GTR to name one, of which is in this week for a full Dynamat.
Buckets i do agree that there really is no 100% safe way to clean your car and marring will eventually start to turn up, irrespective of the 2 bucket method, what i say to people is fill the bucket as high as you can and use only the top 6 inches of water with little agitation to restrict vortex movement of grit at the bottom of the bucket.
The cosmic i used was the all colours one and got some stunning results, just a shame it didnt suit my clients.
But as i said everyday is a training day and products crop up on the market on a weekly if not daily basis this day and age and you can get lost in the different coatings on the market, I tend to find what works and ignore the rest but sometimes you just have to dip the toe, I have my own ceramic as well as Max Protect and Carpro but i am eyeing something called Seeker Polish up at the minute to see if i can get some for testing, similar principal to polish angel in the fact that its an emulsion/paste 9h coating and if its as easy to use then maybe i will go with that as well.
Anyway great to chat and glad its still the best place to forum wise.
