PhilT's GT-R

Post by Reflect Russ » Fri Apr 20, 2012 8:30 pm

Havent posted in here for a while as I have been just knuckiling down and cracking on....taking a back seat from doing write ups but may throw a couple of them up just to see how it goes....so may as well start with this while its still fresh....a few more came before this but I think this is fitting...as its my only white one out of the bunch....

Getting started I did a protection detail on this in Mid December which can be seen here http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... p?t=244330 this was to be one of those where the client played his part (again)....stripping this....adjusting that and low and behold he ropes me in (again)....

On arrival it was still showing signs of the Permanon Aircraft some 5 months on so I expected little by way of contamination....

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

A few stonechips that needed attending to....

Image

Image

Image

Slightly raised to allow access to the arches....

Image

Wheels and arches respectively double teamed with Concours Car Care Dissolver and Scholl Rim 7....

Image

Image

Didnt expect much contamination....and didnt get much....

Image

Image

after a quick whizzle of Dissolver and a pressure rinse the arch was like this....

Image

Again not much expected off the bodywork from Dissolver....

Image

Image

after all decon had been done with the aid of Dissolver....Rim 7....Clay etc....etc....the door boot and bonnet shuts were dealt with and as per usual at this time I turn my attention to the engine bay....all dressed up nicely with Einzett Intensive and the under bonnet area protected with Permanon Aircraft....

Image

Image

Wont post the severn valley badge as that was done last time out....

Now this is where the detail took a turn towards yet another offering from Reflectology Vehicle Detailing Services....those horrible looking exhaust trim surrounds had to go....step up the client....off with the lower half of the bumper....drill to hand and pop rivets removed....the surrounds were then left to me to make splendid and bespoke....why go for a £400 carbon replacement when you can have a bespoke colour.....anywhoo after a hour or so prep and paint couple with the 4 and half hrs strip and fit for the client they were looking soooo much sweeter and dare i say....a break from the carbon fad....

Before....

Image

During....

Image

After....

Image

And while the underpan was off....

Image

Image

The paintwork though was a little tricky....the sun was shining and the sun glasses had to be worn....other wise snow blindness would have been well and truly on the cards....this was the best shot i could pick out....not easy when its not black....

Image

All ready for some machine work....Gazebo up to protect against any unwanted showers but more importantly to save my eyes.....

Image

Image

tried grabbing a 50-50 but it just wasnt having it....

Image

Wing Before....

Image

Wing After....

Image

Image

Image

Bootlid Before....

Image

Image

Bootlid After....

Image

Image

Image

Not gonna throw all the other "tried and Failed" before shots so will just throw a few afters in prior to Ceramishield....

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After it was all over it was down to Ceramishield to do its bit....all looking swell now though....

Nice work Russ as always.

PhilT / Russ what parts of the car is the paint protection film thingy on? The coverage on Pic 5 looks proper random or is that something else?

No idea. I'm pretty sure it's OEM. I did think of taking it off.
