Ali / Chrome mirror backs and windscreen surround

Whats the best cleaner for the Ali windscreen and mirror surrounds on my RS4 Cab?

I've noticed that if I end up getting some polish (autoglym etc) on the windscreen surround, after a few days it comes out in a white finish, not looking good , or it best to to polish these areas?

Autoglym is very good but the polish does dry into powder and mark my window seals etc. The Autoglym Clean Windows does the same. Why not try baby oil (if readily available!), olive oil or a bit of WD40 on a cloth and wipe? I use the latter on the kitchen kettle to remove fingerprints etc.
